Mammoth tusk ivory Zodiac animals on a cliff

Product Description

This beautiful sculpture showcasing all 12 animals in a form of a tower, as if climbing the cliff, one after another. Look at the stones on the cliff, the winding Dragon with its fangs and teeth completely visible even though it is carved in small scale. But each animal, including the tiger, rat, snake, rooster, monkey and the rest have the intricate details are in proportion. Notice how the snake has been carved in the niche of the rocks as it emerges from its roost. While the ram and sheep are comfortably seated.

Each animal has been hand painted and carved to life-like actions and postures, look at the rearing horse or the about to spring position of the monkey. To be able to craft all of the detailed animals on a single piece of Mammoth tusk is impressive.

The finely sculpted animals, each in its own position seems to await its turn to the top. However, the hand-painting and finish of the sculpture is amazing and brings to light the play of color shades of brown over the milky white ivory. The beautifully polished teakwood stand exemplifies the sculpture.
